In celebration of Labor Day this year.
In a video message uploaded by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) on Tuesday, April 29, President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr. announced the four-day free access to major train lines in Metro Manila.
Marcos said that free rides would be offered to conmuters using the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Lines 1 and 2, and the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 3 (MRT 3) from Wednesday, April 30 to Saturday, May 3, 2025.
“Nais kong sabihin sa lahat ng ating komyuter, ay inutos ko para magbigay ng ating kaunting parangal sa ating mga manggagawa (ngayong) Labor Day Celebration ay maging libre ang sakay sa MRT-3 at LRT-1, 2,” the President spoke in the video.
He continued, “Ito ay bilang kaunting pagkilala sa sakripisyo at kontribusyon ng ating mga manggagawa, hindi lamang sa ating ekonomiya, kundi sa ating lipunan. Happy Labor Day!“
Free train rides would be offered the entire day, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) disclosed in its social media post.
Previously, the administration also offered open access to the three major train networks in the capital region back in December 2024, which coincided with the holiday rush ahead of Christmas and New Year.
