In a statement issued on Tuesday, April 22, on its official website, the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) said that Miss Universe Thailand franchise-holder, TPN Global, did not comply with protocols set by the National Directors (ND).

This was due to the group’s move to allow a “Miss Universe Queen to participate in another pageant before completing her reign,” the MUO wrote.

We deeply regret any incidents where these actions have violated our internal protocols and expectations,” the statement continued.

It also highlighted that the role of a Miss Universe winner is “not only an honor but also a responsibility that requires dedication and respect for the commitments agreed upon.”

Hence, the pageant has announced its decision regarding Miss Universe 2024 third runner-up Opal Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand, whose name it did not make any mention of.

For this reason, we have made the difficult decision to withdraw the third runner-up title from the person who had been honored with it, due to the breach of her contractual obligations by participating in an external pageant,” the Miss Universe Organization stated.

This development comes as Chuangsri, who was part of the Top 5 of the 73rd edition of Miss Universe in Mexico last November, was crowned Miss World Thailand 2025 on Tuesday night.

This decision underscores our expectation that all winners fulfill their duties throughout their entire reign. The actions of the ND compromise the decorum and professionalism of the Queen’s full 12-month service,” the MUO emphasized.

They also shared that beginning May 1, the global organization will enforce stricy regulations for all National Directors (ND) with regards to this matter.

Our shared goal is to empower the Miss Universe family to maintain mutual respect, faith, and trust among all its members,” the statement furthered.

“Our primary mission is to inspire and empower through the Miss Universe brand, providing opportunities for the personal and professional growth of all involved. We appreciate our supporters, partners, and contestants for their understanding and commitment to the principles upon which the Miss Universe Organization is founded,” the last paragraph read.

Miss Universe 2025 is set to happen in Bangkok, Thailand this November 21.

Meanwhile, Opal Suchata Chuangsri will be competing in the upcoming Miss World 2025 pageant in India, which will happen on May 31.

Among her competitors in MW is reigning Miss World Philippines Krishnah Gravidez.
