This, as the band’s newest single also climbed to the top of the charts.
Original Filipino music (OPM) act Cup of Joe has been breaking multiple records in the past few days, largely thanks to the immense popularity of their new single, ‘Multo.’
The song, which was first released in September 2024, reached the number 1 spot in the respective Philippine charts of music streaming platforms Spotify and Apple Music.
With this feat, COJ also reached their first-ever Top Artist in the Philippines recognition on Spotify, becoming the third Filipino act to do so — following P-pop group BINI and soloist TJ Monterde.
At present, they also have the most songs to be included in the local chart, with 9 of their singles part of the list.
The band also holds the distinction as the second act to concurrently hold the Top Artist title and the #1 song in the country, a feat also achieved by BINI in 2024.
To top all of those, Cup of Joe is now officially the first Filipino group to be included in the Global Spotify chart, reaching 73rd place.
On their social media page, the team expressed their gratitude to their listeners and fans, ‘Joewahs,’ for these successes.
“[…]we are so grateful for your love and support. “Malayo na, pero malayo pa..”,” part of the caption read.
Cup of Joe was formed in Baguio City in 2018, with the debut taking place a year later, in 2019.
The band gained following with the release of their extended play ‘Patutunguhan,’ which carried the songs ‘Tingin’ featuring Janine Teñoso, ‘Tataya,’ ‘Kung Hindi Lang Tayo Sumuko,’ and ‘Misteryoso.’
Last January, the band dropped the album titled ‘Silakbo,’ the namesake of their two-night sold-out concert at the Araneta Coliseum in February.
