The iconic drama anthology is making its comeback very soon.
The wait is over for the avid viewers of ABS-CBN’s longest-running drama anthology, ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya,’ as the show has confirmed its forthcoming return later this month.
In the plug uploaded by the Kapamilya network on Monday, April 7, host Charo Santos-Concio read her legendary spiel at the start of each story, “Dear Charo.”
She also did not contain her emotions, as she shared that she also missed reading the line, which has been her trademark since ‘MMK’ began airing in 1991.
“Aww… na-miss kong sabihin ang line na yan at na-miss ko rin kayo,” said Santos to the avid fans of the program.
Charo then revealed that the comeback is indeed coming very soon, with ‘MMK’ set to hit streaming platform iWantTFC beginning April 24.
After which, the show will then air on linear television via Kapamilya Channel and A2Z, and the web-based channel Kapamilya Online Live on Saturday, April 26.
Aside from these developments, an article from ABS-CBN News disclosed that one of the first few stories that will be seen in the limited run of the drama anthology are those of ‘The Voice USA’ grand champion Sofronio Vasquez, who will be portrayed by Elijah Canlas, and the life of one BINI member.
‘Maalaala Mo Kaya’ debuted on then-ABS-CBN channel 2 in May 1991, where it remained as a weekly fixture until the network’s broadcast shutdown in May 2020.
In June 2020, ‘MMK’ resumed airing on the Kapamilya Channel, followed by its broadcast on the Kapamilya Online Live and A2Z platform later that year.
Although, in November 2022, after 31 years on the air, it was announced that the show would be ending its storied run by December 2022.
Its last story before going on-hiatus was the three-part story titled ‘Scarlet Women,’ which was topbilled by Kaila Estrada.
Since then, Charo Santos has remained visible on screen via the top-rating primetime drama series ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ as Tindeng.
‘MMK,’ on the other hand, has seen its previous episodes re-aired via Jeepney TV and ALLTV on free-to-air television.
