The banks will temporarily go offline for almost half a day to give way to the process.
In its advisory, banking giant BPI shared that it will be conducting System Integration Activities in relation to its merger with the Gokongwei-group’s Robinsons Bank next week.
It will take place on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, with the bank stating that they will be doing the first batch of system integration activities related to the merger of both entities.
“During this period, both BPI and Robinsons Bank channels and services will be temporarily unavailable,” it noted.
Although, clients may use their BPI and Robinsons Bank Credit Cards as these will remain available, but the bank reminded them to plan transactions accordingly.
Meanwhile, the system integration activity for BizLink will commence at 12:00 am on April 17, 2025, BPI added.
The merger between BPI and Robinsons Bank was initiated back in 2023, with the transaction having been closed and approved by regulatory bodies before the end of the year.
On January 1, 2024, the merger took into effect, with BPI, the third largest bank in the Philippines based on assets and deposits, as the surving entity.
With this move, the Gokongwei group — which owned Robinsons Bank — will have more than 10% stake in BPI, as the Ayala group continues to have the controlling stake in the bank.
The completion of the merger is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of 2025, with all remaining former branches of RBank already converted to BPI by that time.
