All of the network’s live news output, save for one, have reutilized the music theme from over a decade ago.
After the soft-launch on ‘Frontline Pilipinas Weekend’ last March 8, TV5’s weekday news programs, including those under the ‘Frontline’ brand, have embraced the change and adopted the music score from its predecessor, ‘Aksyon.’
First weekday show to make use of it on Monday, March 10, was ‘Gud Morning Kapatid,’ which has since been playing it for the ‘Pasada Balita’ segment.
On the same day, flagship newscast ‘Frontline Pilipinas’ anchored by Cheryl Cosim, Julius Babao, and Jiggy Manicad; the afternoon news bulletin ‘Frontline Express’ with Ruth Cabal; and the late-night broadcast ‘Frontline Tonight’ presented by Ed Lingao and Meanne Los Baños, simultaneously revived the score.
Notably missing in the mix was ‘News5 Alerts,’ which as of this weekend, continues to utilize the original 2020 ‘Frontline Pilipinas’ theme music.
The ‘Aksyon’ theme song was composed by Neocolours’ Jimmy Antiporda and was used on-air by the former TV5 flagship news program from its launch in April 2010 until late 2017.
Antiporda is notably the man behind the scores used by ABS-CBN’s ‘TV Patrol’ and ‘Bandila’ (from 2018 to 2020), and GMA’s “24 Oras” from and ‘Unang Hirit’.
Coincidentally, it was ‘Frontline Pilipinas’ that effectively succeeded ‘Aksyon’ upon the former’s launch in October 2020.
