“Ang bulilit na idol ng mga Pilipino, maririnig na sa buong mundo.”
On Thursday, March 13, ABS-CBN released the first teaser for one of its upcoming reality shows, the spin-off of the popular singing competition, ‘Idol Philippines.’
Called ‘Idol Kids Philippines,’ the Kapamilya network said in the clip that it will be open for children 6 to 13 years old, regardless of genre.
The auditions will take place on Saturday and Sunday, March 15 to 16, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, at the ABS-CBN Audience Center in Quezon City.
Auditionees have been directed to prepare 1 English song and 1 Tagalog song.
Moreover, new venues and dates for the additions will be announced in the future, according to the show.
Other details, such as the host and judges, and the tentative premiere date are still kept under wraps, as of writing.
‘Idol Kids Philippines’ will be the first children-exclusive spin-off of the format, which had seen four seasons since it was first brought to the country in 2006.
The first dates back to 2006, when ABC-5 produced the ‘Philippine Idol,’ but after GMA-7 acquired the rights, it created the lone season of ‘Pinoy Idol’ in 2008.
It was in 2018 when ABS-CBN disclosed that it picked up the format for a third revival, ‘Idol Philippines,’ which broadcast in April of the following year.
Billy Crawford served as the main host, while Regine Velasquez, Vice Ganda, Moira dela Torre, and James Reid were in the first batch of judges during the Kapamilya era.
Zephanie was declared the first-ever ‘Idol’ winner of the ABS-CBN version.
The show then returned for a second season three years later, in 2022, with Regine Velasquez and Moira dela Torre returning, with Gary Valenciano and Chito Miranda joining the program as the new judges.
Hosted by Robi Domingo, ‘Idol Philippines’ season 2 was eventually won by Khimo Gumatay.
