The K-pop star is back with her first-ever studio album.

On Friday, March 7, Blackpink member Jennie Kim released her first studio album titled ‘Ruby’.

The album is a star-studded affair, with multiple tracks featuring the K-pop star’s collaborations with international artists like Childish Gambino, Dua Lipa, Doechii, Dominic Fike, FKJ, and Kali Uchis.

One of the newly-released songs in conjunction with the album’s launch is ‘Like Jennie,’ with its music video having garnered over 10 million views more than a day after it was uploaded onto YouTube.

In a previous statement she made, Jennie shared that the album and the “next single is going to sound very different from ‘Mantra.’”

‘Mantra’ is the song that she dropped in October 2024, her first under American music label Columbia Records. It is also one of the singles of her new album.

Jennie debuted in 2016 as part of the third-generation K-pop group Blackpink, along with fellow members Rosé, Jisoo, and Lisa.

They became well-known in their home country and abroad, thanks to their successive hit songs ‘Whistle,’ ‘Boombayah,’ ‘Playing with Fire,’ ‘As If It’s Your Last,’ ‘Ddu-du Ddu-du,’ ‘Kill This Love,’ ‘Lovesick Girls,’ ‘Pink Venom,’ and ‘Shut Down,’ among many others.

Late December 2023, she formally launched her own agency OddAtelier — the new company that would oversee her solo career.

At present, all four members have individually established their own labels for their solo projects.

Although, the team’s original label, YG Entertainment, will remain as the parent studio for their group activities moving forward and in fact, will be promoting as a four-piece group anew in 2025.

Already announced is their upcoming world tour, with dates and venues yet to be disclosed.
