12 days into his hospitalization and the ailing head of the church has seen his condition better minimally.
In an update provided by the Holy See Press Office on Wednesday night (early Thursday morning, February 27, Manila time), it reported that Pope Francis’ health has shown a positive sign.
It said, “The Holy Father’s condition has shown a slight further improvement over the past 24 hours. The mild kidney insufficiency observed in recent days has subsided.“
Moreover, “(a) chest CT scan carried out last night showed a normal progression of the lung inflammation.“
The Pope his also on high-flow oxygen therapy, although he did not experience any asthma-like respiratory issues.
Meanwhile, in a succeeding bulletin for Thursday morning (evening in Manila), the press office said that the 88-year-old Pontiff had “…slept well during the night and is now resting.“
The Vatican News also shared in its report that the “Holy Father continued his treatment wgile setting in his armchair,” where he was also told about the many prayer initiatives dedicated to him, describing that “he remains in good spirits” as well.
Pope Francis was brought to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on February 14, where he was diagnosed with double pneumonia.
