NLEX hikes toll fees starting March 2

Motorists using the expressway will have to shell out more money by the end of this week.

In an advisory, the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) shared that it approved the petition of NLEX Corp., the operator of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) starting Sunday, March 2, 2025.

According to the agency, “to help curb inflation and cushion the impact thereof on the toll expressway users, NLEX Corp. was allowed this year to collect only 50% (1st Tranche) of the provisionally approved 2022 periodic toll rate adjustments.

Furthermore, “NLEX Corp. was allowed to recover its investment for the newly completed Candaba 3rd Viaduct by way of add-on toll fees at the Closed System.

The new Candaba Viaduct was partially opened to the public in phases from August 2024, before it was fully opened on December 10, 2024, without collection of add-on toll fees.

The new fees to be imposed by NLEX are now as follows:

At the Open System (Balintawak, Caloocan, Mindanao Ave to North of Marilao), motorists will need to pay an additional ₱5.00 for Class 1 vehicles, ₱13.00 for Class 2, and ₱15.00 for Class 3.

Meanwhile, af the Closed System — which begins from North of Marilao to Sta. Ines, Mabalacat City, motorists will pay an additional ₱52.00 for Class 1, ₱129.00 for Class 2, and ₱156.00 for Class 3.

In the Subic-Tipo leg of the expressway, there shall be an additional ₱7.00 for Class 1, ₱18.00 for Class 2, and ₱21.00 for Class 3 will be collected from the motorists.

End to end travellers of NLEX, stretching from Metro Manila to Sta. Ines, Mabalacat City, they will be paying an additional ₱57.00 for Class 1, ₱142.00 for Class 2, and ₱171.00 for Class 3.
