She is the first Thai personality to have been tapped to become the musical guest of the biggest evening in Hollywood.
On Tuesday, February 25, the Academy of Motion Pictures and Arts Sciences (AMPAS) revealed that Thai K-pop superstar Lisa will be performing for the 97th Academy Awards, which will be held on Sunday, March 2 (Los Angeles time).
She will be joining forces with Doja Cat and Raye, both of whom she had already collaborated with for the single ‘Born Again’ which will be released as part of her ‘Alter-Ego’ album on Friday, February 28.
Lisa debuted in 2016 as part of the third-generation K-pop group Blackpink, along with fellow members Jennie, Rosé, and Jisoo.
They became well-known in their home country and abroad, thanks to their successive hit songs ‘Whistle,’ ‘Boombayah,’ ‘Playing with Fire,’ ‘As If It’s Your Last,’ ‘Ddu-du Ddu-du,’ ‘Kill This Love,’ ‘Lovesick Girls,’ ‘Pink Venom,’ and ‘Shut Down,’ among many others.
The Thai K-pop star also launched her solo career in 2021, releasing hit songs ‘Money’ and the namesake single of her debut extended play ‘Lalisa.’
In 2024, she formally established her own agency LLOUD, through which she dropped the singles ‘Rockstar,’ ‘New Woman,’ and ‘Moonlit Floor.’
Lisa also made headlines that year when she joined the Victoria Secret Fashion Show as one of the musical performers, which include Tyla and Cher.
