The ‘King of Philippine Cinema’ is making his Kapuso comeback next month via his archived movies.
In new teaser videos for the upcoming ‘FPJ sa GMA’ movie block, the network confirmed that it will be airing the films of the late Philippine showbiz icon, Fernando Poe, Jr., beginning Sunday, March 2.
Viewers shall expect the digitally-restored films from the FPJ library in the upcoming block, with the official timeslot having been set at 3:15 pm each week.
As a result, this also meant that programs in the late Sunday afternoon block will be transferred to their new time slots.
Right after musical-variety show ‘All-Out Sundays,’ it will be the weekly anthology series ‘Regal Studio Presents’ that will air at 2:00 pm.
Following that, ‘Kapuso Action Man‘ Emil Sumangil’s public affairs show ‘Resibo’ will continue to give service at 2:45 pm.
Other Sunday shows will remain in their respective slots.
Prior to the signing of the deal for ‘FPJ sa GMA’ in December 2024, his film archives were seen on ABS-CBN under the title ‘FPJ: Da King,’ on top of airing on the Kapamilya network’s cable channels Cinema One and Cine Mo!
After the network’s shutdown in 2020, the movie block was carried by the Kapamilya Channel, and was later, brought back to free TV via the A2Z channel in October 2020 and TV5 in January 2021.
In February 2024, ‘FPJ sa Da King’ was dropped from the schedule of the three channels and was replaced by ‘Sunday Blockbusters,’ which broadcasts movies from various action stars.
