The race is officially on.
On Tuesday, February 11, the campaign season for sematorial candidates and party lists in the upcoming 2025 midterm elections began.
The administration slate, nicknamed ‘Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas,’ held their proclamation rally in President Marcos, Jr.’s bailiwick in Laoag, Ilocos Norte.
Opposition senatoriables from the ‘pink movement’ went to Dasmariñas, Cavite for their ‘People’s Campaign Kick Off Rally.’
The Makabayan bloc, meanwhile, opted to begin their movement in the National Capital Region.
As per election rules, the 2025 election period officially began last January 12 and will last until weeks beyond election day on June 11.
National candidates are allowed to do their campaigns until Saturday, May 10, with a pause on Maundy Thursday (April 17) and Good Friday (April 18).
As for the local candidates, their campaign shall officially commence on Friday, March 28, 2025.
Over 69 million registered Filipino voters in the Philippines and from multiple countries overseas will cast their ballots for the midterm elections.
Election day will take place on Monday, May 12, with winning candidates set to begin their term on June 30, 2025.
