In separate statements and posts issued over the past few days, cast members of 2001 Taiwanese TV series ‘Meteor Garden’ mourned the death of the show’s lead actress, Barbie Hsu.

Immediately after the confirmation of her tragic demise on Monday, February 2, Ken Chu, who portrayed Xi Men, took to Instagram to share stories, with the first being a black image, followed by a group photo of F4 members with Hsu.

Rainie Yang, who starred as Hsu’s Shan Cai’s bestfriend Xiao Yu, posted a message that read, “Thank you. I will miss you forever and love you.”

Meanwhile, Jerry Yan, who was Hsu’s love interest Dao Ming Si, shared his tribute to Barbie via his agency.

The translated message read, “Thank you for meeting you. In your carefree and child-like years, you often say to treat every day as if it were your last, wishing to make the most of it.”

“I hope that this time, you will walk slowly, and from now on in another world, there will be no more worries, and the years will be peaceful,” Yan added.

Vanness Wu, who acted as Mei Zuo, uploaded the title image of the film ‘Barbie,’ and remembered his late co-star in the caption.

“Big Smile, Big Heart, Big Laugh, Big Love… Big S. Thank you for all your kindness throughout the years, especially from when we first met… Miss you dearly Barbie. Rest in Love,” Wu wrote.

Hsu’s husband, Koo Jun Yop, has since shared three posts since her passing.

In his first post, the South Korean DJ said that he is “going through a time of indescribable sorrow and pain where I feel like my heart is cut by a knife. I am torn apart. I don’t have the strength to say anything. I don’t even want to say anything.”

He also later swore that the “precious legacy” gbat his wife left behind, including all the shares she collected to protect her beloved family, were given to his mother-in-law.

“I will take legal action through lawyers to protect [her children] until they reach adulthood so that wicked people won’t touch them,” Koo wrote without specifying who he was referring to.

After that, on Saturday, February 8, Koo solemnly celebrated their third wedding anniversary with a short message that read, “I love you forever.”

In a statement released on Monday, February 3, Dee Hsu shared that her sister, Barbie Hsu, has died at the age of 48.

According to Dee, their family was on a trip to Japan over the Lunar New Year holidays. It was also where Barbie contracted influenza, which later caused pneumonia and her eventual death.

“Thank you everyone for your concern! During the Chinese New Year period, our entire family went to Japan for a holiday. There, my dearest kind sister Barbie contracted influenza-associated pneumonia, and unfortunately left us.“

Barbie, born Shi-yuan Hsu, went on to become a huge name in Asian entertainment in the early 2000s, thanks to her portrayal of female lead character Shan Cai in the live-action adaptation ‘Meteor Garden’ that originally aired in 2001.

The series became a phenomenal hit in the Philippines after its first broadcast in 2003. She also visited the country for a couple of engagements that year.
