COMELEC: Election ballot printing resumes January 25

That would be 11 days after the pressers stopped after a Supreme Court order.

That would be 11 days after the pressers stopped after a Supreme Court order.

On Wednesday, January 22, Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chairman George Garcia confirmed that the en banc has decided upon a new date for the resumption of the printing for the 2025 election ballots.

As per Garcia, they are looking forward to finally start printing again on Saturday, January 25, the over 73 million ballots needed for the upcoming May polls.

That is, if the Supreme Court does not issue another TRO or temporary restraining order for a partylist group or Senate aspirant, which will be voted on a national level — hence, necessitating their inclusion in all ballots.

These past few days, the SC had issued multiple orders, both for candidates in the local and national positions, which effectively required the COMELEC to add certain personalities onto the list.

This has also prompted the creation of new ballot faces, as well as updates to the electronic systems that will be used for the 2025 elections.

73 million ballots will be printed by the National Printing Office (NPO), which will be used by registered voters around the world to elect officials in the Senate, House of Representatives, provincial, and city council members.

A fixed deadline of April 14 has also been set, so as to facilitate the timely delivery of the ballots prior to election day, which will happen on Monday, May 12.
