The return of the ‘Unkabogable Star’ to the big screen has been a triumphant one.
On Wednesday, January 15, movie studio Star Cinema released the latest box-office figure for the film ‘And The Breadwinner Is,’ which was one of the 10 entries in the recently-concluded 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
Starring Vice Ganda, the dramedy earned Php 400 million in the Philippine box-office, as of January 15.
In his post on X, formerly Twitter, director-screenwriter Jun Lana expressed his gratitude for the success of the movie.
“My heart is overflowing with gratitude! To everyone who watched and championed ‘And The Breadwinner Is at the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival, THANK YOU for being a shining light, especially amidst the noise and chaos.”
Lana added, “Your overwhelming support carried this film to #1, a clear reminder that we wouldn’t be here without our amazing audience believing in this story!”
,I believe this film resonated with so many because Bambi’s story touched something deep within us. We saw ourselves, our struggles, and our hopes reflected in her journey. This victory is a testament to the power of connection and the unwavering spirit of those who dare to dream. Maraming, maraming salamat po,” he concluded his message.
Despite the end of MMFF on Tuesday, January 14, ‘Breadwinner’ is still available on numerous theaters nationwide, as well as abroad.
Prior to the film, Vice’s last MMFF entry was the 2022 Metro Manila Film Festival entry ‘Partners In Crime,’ which she topbilled alongside Ivana Alawi and was directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana.
