They have set a new record.
In an article by music publication Billboard, it reported that Korean boy band Stray Kids’ newest mixtape ‘Hop’ debuted at No. 1 in the Billboard 200 album chart.
It marks their sixth consecutive number 1 debut in the chart, a feat they created during their first six entries as well.
They first entered the chart via their 2022 extended plays ‘Oddinary’ and ‘Maxident’.
Stray Kids returned to the top of the chart upon releasing “5-Star” and ‘Rock-Star’ in 2023, and their EP ‘Ate’ that was dropped in July.
With this, they have created history by becoming the first-ever act to do so in the 69-year history of the chart, which was first published in 1954.
Additionally, they are now tied with fellow Korean pop group BTS, along with bands Linkin Park and Dave Matthews for the most No. 1 entries in the 200 album chart.
Stray Kids is an eight-member group composed of members, namely Bang Chan, Lee Chan, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and Jeongin (I.N.).
Launched in 2017, the group made their official debut in March 2018 with their extended play ‘I Am Not,’ which carries the track ‘District 9.’
Since then, Stray Kids had released tracks like ‘My Pace,’ ‘I Am You,’ ‘Miroh,’ ‘Side Effects,’ ‘Double Knot,’ ‘God’s Menu,’ ‘Back Door,’ ‘Thunderous,’ ‘Christmas EveL,’ ‘Case 143,’ and ‘S-Class,’ among others.
Last July 2024, they dropped the extended play titled ‘Ate,’ which features the carrier single ‘Chk Chk Boom.’ The music video of which featured ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.
In November, Stray Kids returned to the country for their ‘DominATE’ concert at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.
