In the social media art card posted by Star Cinema, it shared the announcement regarding the grand media day for ‘And The Breadwinner Is,’ the studio’s collaboration with The IdeaFirst Company and an upcoming entry to the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
Set to happen on Thursday, December 5, expected to attend the said media conference are lead star Vice Ganda, Eugene Domingo, Gladys Reyes, Jhong Hilario, Malou de Guzman, Kokoy de Santos, MC Muah, Lassy Marquez, Via Antonio, Kiko Matos, and child star Argus Aspiras.
Representing the creatives behind the film are director Jun Robles Lana, screenwriters Daisy Cayanan-Mejares, and Jumbo Albano.
Upon the poster’s release, netizens were quick to point out the absence of two stars of the film — Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings.
Racal and Jennings, also known as the love team ‘MaThon,’ are currently involved in a controversy after the latter star’s ex-partner uploaded screenshots of the on-screen pair’s past conversations on Tuesday evening.
That move resulted to a social media firestorm on Wednesday, with parts of the leaked screenshots garnering immense attention and the artists becoming subjected to intense scrutiny.
At the moment, the duo and their parent agency, Star Magic, remain mum and have not yet released any comment on the issue.
Meanwhile, ‘And The Breadwinner Is’ will screen in theaters nationwide from December 25, 2024 until January 7, 2025, as it is one of the ten entries to the golden edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival.
It marks Vice Ganda’s return to the MMFF after last participating in 2022, as well as the first collaboration between the ‘Unkabogable Star’ and award-winning LGBTQIA+ director-writer Jun Robles Lana.
