This is in connection with her recent actions and statements.
On Wednesday, November 27, Vice President Sara Duterte faces more cases in the fallout of her controversial behavior over the weekend.
Foremost, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) filed an assault, disobedience to authority, and grave coercion complaint against Duterte and the head of her Vice President Security Protection Group (VPSPG), Col. Raymund Lachica.
This is due to their alleged violations during the transport of Office of the Vice President (OVP) staff Atty. Zuleika Lopez from the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) to the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City on the morning of Saturday, November 23.
Members of the VPSPG, which is under the Armed Forces of the Philippines, have since been replaced.
Meanwhile, disbarred lawyer Larry Gadon has filed a disbarment suit against the Veep before the Supreme Court due to her remarks during a press briefing last weekend.
“Such statements coming from the second highest official of the land, seen and heard by millions of Filipinos are undoubtedly illegal, immoral and condemnable. As a lawyer herself, she should be disbarred,” Gadon said.
He added, “a fully constituted plan for murdering three above named individuals as she further affirmed that the assassination plot is not a joke.”
Gadon refers to Duterte’s recent remarks amidst a press briefing on Saturday, where she told that she had contracted someone to “kill” President Bongbong Marcos, First Lady Liza Marcos, and House Speaker Ferdinand Romualdez, should she be herself killed by an unknown threat.
“May kinausap na ako na tao. Sinabi ko sa kaniya na kapag pinatay ako, patayin mo si BBM, si Liza Araneta at si Martin Romualdez. No joke. Nagbilin na ako. Pag namatay ako, sabi ko, ‘wag ka tumigil hanggang hindi mo mapatay sila and then he said ‘yes.’”
But, in a previous statement, VP Sara Duterte has said that “[t]he Marcos administration’s insistence that the President’s life is under active threat is ominous.”
She continued, “I raise this caution as the President and his sycophants aggressively sell a narrative based entirely on my statement, which is taken out of its logical context” and that “[t]here is absolutely no flesh on the bone, and despite the absence of a reliable investigation, authorities were quick to consider this a national security concern.”
Duterte also said that “tossing the word ‘assassin’ into this issue makes things even more terrifying — and especially because I never used that term…”
“Common sense should be enough for us to understand and accept that a supposed conditional act of revenge does not constitute to an active threat. This is a plan without a flesh,” she said.
As of press time, Duterte had also been served a subpoena by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in relation to the statements she made.
