She is set to compete for a chance to get country’s first title in the pageant next month.
On Sunday, September 29, beauty queen CJ Opiaza, representing the province of Zambales, bested 19 other delegates to get the title of Miss Grand Philippines 2024.
Opiaza is set to wear the sash bearing the Philippines’ name on it in the upcoming Miss Grand International 2024 competition in Thailand on October 25, 2024.
The newly-installed Miss Grand Philippines is not a new face to the local beauty pageant scene as she previously joined the Binibining Pilipinas in 2022 and Miss Universe Philippines 2023, where she placed as the 1st runner-up.
CJ will vie for the country’s first crown in the pageant, which already saw two Filipinas coming close to getting one. The first time being in 2016 with Nicole Cordoves as rep and the other being the controversial 2020 edition with Samantha Bernardo as the Philippines’ candidate.
Apart from Opiaza, the coronation night also saw the crowning of Pampanga’s Sophia Bianca Santos as Universal Woman Philippines 2025 and Anna Margaret Mercado of Quirino was named Miss Teen International 2024.
Meanwhile, the first runner-up was Manila representative Jubilee Therese Acosta, with second runner-up spot going to Alexandra Mae Rosales of Laguna.
