The Kapamilya series achieved a million views.
On Friday, September 20, over-the-top (OTT) platform Netflix released the viewers engagement report for its television shows and movies that it streams worldwide for the first half of 2024.
During this period in the Philippines, the ABS-CBN Studios and Star Creatives-produced series ‘Can’t Buy Me Love,’ starring Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano, emerged as the top show in the country.
The program, which exclusively streams via Netflix Philippines, had achieved a viewership record of 1 million that translated to more than 54 million hours of watchtime.
All 148 episodes of the series were streamed via Netflix three days prior to its free-to-air and pay TV broadcast from its premiere in October 2023 until its finale in May 2024.
‘CBML’ is the first-ever Kapamilya primetime teleserye of DonBelle, the tandem that was formed in the 2021 youth-oriented drama ‘He’s Into Her,’ and topbilled the Star Cinema movies ‘Love Is Color Blind’ in 2021 and ‘An Inconvenient Love’ in 2022.
Coming in second place is GMA Network’s mystery-suspense drama ‘Royal Blood,’ led by Dingdong Dantes, Rhian Ramos, Mikael Daez, and Megan Young, which recorded 300,000 views and a total of 9 million hours of watchtime.
Similar to ‘Can’t Buy Me Love,’ the Kapuso drama series is only exclusively streaming on the Netflix in the Philippines.
Globally, the limited series ‘Fool Me Once’ topped the charts with over 600 million views, and it trailed the third season of ‘Bridgerton,’ ‘Baby Reindeer,’ ‘The Gentlemen,’ and ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender.’
