The world number 3 pole vaulter and newly-installed “Internet’s boyfriend” will be meeting his fans soon.
In a social media post on Tuesday, September 3, Filipino Olympian EJ Obiena shared some news to his followers regarding his upcoming events in the Philippines.
According to Obiena, the World Athletics-sanctioned pole vaulting event, originally scheduled to happen on Friday, September 20, at the Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati City will no longer push through.
That event will be rescheduled for next year, as Obiena is currently recuperating from his recent back surgery prior to the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Instead of that meet, EJ will be holding a meet-and-greet event at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay in Parañaque City on Sunday, September 15, from 10:00 am onwards.
Activities at the said event will include an exhibition showcasing pole vault, a panel discussion with a nunber of world-class athletes, and “plenty of fun activities, unique programs, and get together.”
Attendees are asked to register via a quick response (QR) code that Obiena posted in his account.
Recently, the world number 3 pole vaulter bowed out of his season after placing fifth in the Polish leg of the Diamond League, citing his injury.
Although, he had also confirmed that he intends to return to action in early 2025.
