The two singers are teaming up anew.
After first collaborating for a cover of ‘Bonfire’ in 2022, the song’s original singer Peder Elias and Cha Eunwoo of the Korean pop group ASTRO are set to release their first single together.
In an announcement on Tuesday, August 27, the musicians shared the news that the new song titled ‘Hey Hello’ will be released on Friday, August 30.
Despite this being the digital release of the song, it was actually first unveiled during the ‘Just One 10 Minute: Mystery Elevator’ encore fan-concert of Cha Eunwoo in July 2024.
‘Hey Hello’ is the follow-up to their successful collaboration for their duet cover of Peder’s song ‘Bonfire’ on Eunwoo’s official YouTube channel in November 2022.
After which, the Norwegian singer shared details about how his meet-up with the Korean superstar materialized.
In a TikTok video in May 2023, Peder narrated that “one of his managers [that] works a lot with songwriters for K-pop and while we [Peder and his team] were there, she was working with songwriters to write for ASTRO.”
He then continued, “my manager was talking to ASTRO’s team and this is where the fun part happened.”
According to Peder’s account of the events, the manager eventually told the group’s team that she had been working with Peder Elias, when the ASTRO team revealed that “Eunwoo loves him [Peder Elias]!”
Plus, it was the team that relayed that Eunwoo had actually sent him a direct message (DM) on Instagram.
Unfortunately, Peder wasn’t able to reply to Eunwoo’s message. The Norwegian singer also couldn’t believe how he was able to miss out the message, considering that Eunwoo is “by far the one with the most followers to DM [him].”
Continuing the story, “luckily they [ASTRO and Peder’s teams] arranged for us to meet and he’s the greatest guy and I [Peder] loved hanging out with him.”
Peder even reacted to a scene on Eunwoo’s vlog, where the idol-actor was seen rehearsing how to introduce himself to the Norwegian singer. “My bro was even a little bit shy, which is the cutest thing ever,” he said.
To end that clip, Peder said that he was looking forward to hanging out with Eunwoo the next time that he is in South Korea.
