Sen. Hontiveros: Dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo now out of the country

This comes a week after she was removed by the Ombudsman from her position.

This comes a week after she was removed by the Ombudsman from her position.

In her speech at the Senate on Monday, August 19, Senator Risa Hontiveros revealed that dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo has fled the country.

Hontiveros, who leads the Senate panel investigation on the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO) in Bamban that led to the various discoveries about the identity of the Bamban official, said that Guo left the country more than a month ago.

“I am now in receipt of information that in fact this person was already out of the country on July 18, 2024 to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Ipapakita ko po ang dokumentong ito, bilang patunay na pumasok sa Malaysia si Alice Guo,” where she attached documents the Senator collated with regards to the arrival of the dismissed mayor in Malaysia.

Hontiveros shared that Guo left the Philippines on July 17, as she entered Kuala Lumpur International Airport at midnight on July 18 using her Philippine passport tagged as Alice Guo.

“Siya po ay pumasok ng 12:17:13 military time ng July 18, kaya ibig sabihin umalis siya ng Pilipinas ng gabi ng July 17.”

Senator Hontiveros divulged that the documents her office received about dismissed Bamban Mayor Guo’s whereabouts came from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

The senator further stated that Alice Guo has since reunited with her father Jian Zhong Guo and her alleged biological mother Lin Wen Yi, along with her sibilings, in Singapore.

This, as Hontiveros discovered that the couple Jian and Lin flew in from China to Singapore on July 28, 2024.

The bombshell revelation has led to Senator Risa Hontiveros asking: “Who allowed this travesty to happen? Sino ang may kagagawan nito?”

“Hindi makakaalis si Alice Guo kung walang tumulong sa kanya na mga opisyales ng pamahalaan. Para tayong ginigisa sa sarili nating mantika,” she expressed her disappointment over the development.

Hontiveros also directed her query to the Bureau of Immigration (BI), which repeatedly assured her and the Senate that the agency will not let Mayor Guo exit the country amidst her mounting legal cases in the Philippines related to the POGO hubs in Bamban.

“Nangako ang BI sa akin at sa Senate President Pro Tempore na hindi nila hahayaan si Guo Hua Ping na makaalis sa Pilipinas, eh yun pala ay wala na talaga siya,” the senator said.

“Kung hindi po natin ito gawan ng paraan, as an institution, as a country, parang nagpasampal tayo sa dayuhang ito na paulit ulit na sinasaula ang ating mga batas, patakaran at proseso,” Hontiveros ended her statement.

The latest revelation about dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo’s whereabout comes a week after she was sacked by the Ombudsman from her political role, as well as the tax evasion case filed by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) against her.

Although, in an interview with radio station DWPM Radyo 630, Guo’s legal counsel refuted Hontiveros and said that their client assured them that she is still in the Philippines.

The legal counsel, however, did not state where in the country the dismissed mayor is staying.
