In celebration of the successful Olympic campaign of the country this year.
On Wednesday, August 14, a grand heroes’ parade takes place in the cities of Manila and Pasay for the members of the now-iconic Philippine centennial squad that represented the country in the recent Paris 2024 Olympics in France.
Joining the parade are two-time gold medalist gymnast Carlos Yulo, bronze medalists and female boxers Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas, among many others.
The float will begin its journey in front of the Aliw Theater on the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Complex in Pasay City.
It will then continue its journey via Roxas Boulevard, where it will meet the Jose Rizal monument in Luneta.
After which, the route will see them make a right turn to Finance Road, then make its path along Taft Avenue, before going for a right turn again onto Quirino Avenue in the San Andres area.
The parade will go left to Adriatico Street that will lead the athletes to their homecoming party at the Rizal Memorial Complex.
This heroes’ welcome happens a day after the national team made their return to the Philippines after the successful campaign at the recent Paris 2024 Olympics, which was held from July 26 to August 11.
The said Olympiad also marked the nation’s 100th year participation in the games, which dates back to the 1924 Summer games coincidentally held in the very same European city.
In the 2024 games, the country garnered a total of 4 medals, with two gold medals and two bronze medals. Its overall medal haul also inflated to 18.
