The sitting Vice President has chosen her running mate for the forthcoming elections.
On Tursday, August 6, US Vice President and the Democratic Party’s Presidential candidate Kamala Harris officially announced Minnesota governor Tim Walz as part of her ticket in the upcoming 2024 elections in November.
In a tweet, Harris said that it is “great to have” Walz on the team, as he was able to deliver for working families in various capacity, such as being a governor, a coach, a teacher, and a veteran.
Walz, for his part, said that it is an “honor of a lifetime” to join in VP Kamala Harris in the campaign.
“I’m all in. Vice President Harris is showing us the politics of what’s possible. It reminds me a bit of the first day of school. So, let’s get this done, folks,” the governor added.
VP Kamala Harris is set to face former President Donald Trump, who is the standard bearer for the Republican party in the elections.
While Governor Tim Walz will go head on with Senator JD Vance for the position of Vice President.
Previously, the Democratic party was supposed to be fronted by incumbent President Joe Biden, in what was supposed to be a rematch between him and Trump.
However, amidst campaigns calling for him to step aside as a candidate, the 46th POTUS did so and instead endorsed his 2020 running mate Kamala Harris for the top position.
The United States elections will take place on November 5, 2024.
