Beginning 9:00 pm on Tuesday, July 16, the air conditioning system at Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 passenger building will be shut for 12 hours.

According to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), this is to facilitate the installation works for six new cooling towers, which would run until 9:00 am on Wednesday, July 17.

MIAA also disclosed that most of the terminal will be affected by the temporary shut off, especially the immigration counters and security check, baggage carousel, and arrivals hall.

Although, it noted that electric fans and other cooling devices will be activated in lieu of air conditioners during the 12-hour period.

In advance, the MIAA had also expressed their apologies to passengers that will arrive or depart through the terminal while the installation works of new cooling towers are ongoing.

Medical teams are on standby for passengers who might seek help due to warmer conditions inside the terminal building.

These works also come ahead of the San Miguel-led consortium’s take over of the management and maintenance of facilities at NAIA, which is due to begin in September 2024.
