The flag carrier had a steep decline in its ranking for this year.
Earlier this week, renowned aviation review website SkyTrax published the winners of its Tpp 100 World Airlines Awards for the year 2024.
According to which, the Philippines’ flag carrier Philippine Airlines dropped to the 96th spot, 16 places below its 80th ranking in 2023.
Meanwhile, former world number 1 Singapore Airlines has been dethroned by Middle East-based Qatar Airways.
Although, despite slipping down to number 2, SQ still remains the leading airline among Southeast Asian carriers that made it to the SkyTrax list.
As per the methodology of SkyTrax, it said that the list was made after it conducted an online survey of people from more than 100 nationalities that ran from September 2023 to May 2024.
The surveyed individuals selected among a list of 350 airlines worldwide, from which the Top 100 was subsequently determined by the end of the polls.
As of the moment, Philippine Airlines holds a separate four-star rating from the said travel website, which is based on the in-flight services, technical capabilities, and the facilities offered by the airline to its customers.
