‘Frontline Pilipinas’ cuts TV5 runtime as ‘Lumuhod Ka Sa Lupa’ makes primetime move

TV5 has premiered today a new-look early primetime block on its main channel.

TV5 has premiered today a new-look early primetime block on its main channel.

On Monday, June 24, TV5 formally began airing its new ‘TodoMax Primetime Singko’ block, which gets a boost by the addition of one more teleserye right after its flagship news program ‘Frontline Pilipinas,’ which also had to make changes in its set-up in light of the programming shake-up.

‘FRONTLINE PILIPINAS’

TV5’s flagship primetime newscast ‘Frontline Pilipinas’ anchored by Cheryl Cosim, Julius Babao, and Jiggy Manicad implemented some changes with its broadcast set up starting Monday, June 24.

The Kapatid news program has reduced its airtime to one hour from 6:30 to 7:30 pm on the main TV5 channel and on Cignal’s news and public service channel One PH.

However, it will continue to run for 90 minutes or from 6:30 until 8:00 pm on other platforms, such as News5’s Facebook and YouTube accounts, Radyo5 92.3 True FM, and on True FM TV.

The new set-up for ‘Frontline Pilipinas’ is reminiscent of the system once implemented on TV5’s previous flagship newscast ‘Aksyon’ sometime in 2017.

Back then, the said Kapatid program had an online-only extension on News5’s Always On live stream channel minutes after finishing its TV broadcast, especially during PBA game days.

For ‘Frontline’ though, they will have to give way to the primetime shift of TV5 teleserye ‘Lumuhod Ka Lupa’.

‘LUMUHOD KA SA LUPA’

Now on its second season, the series that stars Kiko Estrada, Sarah Lahbati, and Gardo Versoza, will now air Monday to Friday nights at 7:30 pm — serving as a lead-in to the top-rating Kapamilya action drama series ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ that also airs on the Kapatid network.

During its first season, which premiered in April, ‘Lumuhod’ was aired right after the noontime show ‘Eat Bulaga’ at 2:30 pm.

It performed modestly in the ratings game by TV5 standards, which allowed it to be promoted to the ‘TodoMax Primetime Singko’ block starting with its second chapter.

‘WIN’ TIME

Speaking of TV5’s afternoon block, change is also coming for the ‘Hapon Champion’ line-up soon as Willie Revillame’s game show ‘Wil To Win’ is slated to make its premiere on July 15.

Revillame’s show will be aired at 5:00 pm from Monday to Friday, serving as the new pre-programming to ‘Frontline Pilipinas’ on TV5.

As for the new TV5 schedule beginning the said date, the network has yet to formally announce that and could still change without prior notice.
