After a long wait, the Kapuso network’s historical-action-drama mega-series will finally make its premiere soon.
In an announcement post on social media, global streaming platform Netflix shared that it will be adding to its library of content the upcoming Kapuso megaserye ‘Pulang Araw,’ which will tackle one of the Philippines’ darkest chapters in the past one hundred years — World War II.
Episodes of the program will premiere first on the streaming platform 72 hours or three days before their free-to-air television broadcast on GMA.
Hence, ‘Pulang Araw’ will become available for viewing on Netflix Philippines from Friday, July 26, 2024.
Meanwhile, it is slated to make its TV premiere on GMA-7 on Monday, July 29, 2024.
Starring Alden Richards, Barbie Forteza, Dennis Trillo, Sanya Lopez, and David Licauco, the series will be directed by Dominic Zapata.
Epy Quizon, Angelu De Leon, Rochelle Pangilinan, Rhian Ramos, and Aidan Veneracion have also been confirmed to be part of the ensemble.
Aside from the major streaming announcement, the five lead stars of the drama are also prominently featured in GMA’s Independence Day message for this year.
‘Pulang Araw’ will also be the latest Filipino drama series, and GMA Network’s first production, to stream on Netflix ahead of its traditional television broadcast.
ABS-CBN Studios-produced shows ‘2 Good 2 Be True’ and ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ were the first few local programs to do so.
The upcoming Filipino adaptation of ‘It’s Okay To Not Be Okay,’ starring Anne Curtis, Carlo Aquino, and Joshua Garcia, is also expected to stream on the platform later this year.
Apart for ‘Pulang Araw,’ GMA Network is also preparing for its other primetime megaseries: the telefantasya spinoff-cum-sequel ‘Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre,’ which will top bill Bianca Umali, Faith da Silva, Kelvin Miranda, and Angel Guardian.
