‘Ma’am Charo’ is back in the board.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), ABS-CBN Corporation announced that Charo Santos-Concio was appointed Director by the company’s board.
“The Board of Directors today, May 30, 2024, elected Ma. Rosario (Charo) Santos-Concio as a Director. She fills the vacancy in the board created by the passing of Atty. Augusto Almeda-Lopez.”
Almeda-Lopez, a war veteran and former general manager and vice chairman of ABS-CBN, passed away at the age of 95 on February 4, 2024.
Prior to being a company director, Santos-Concio served ABS-CBN through different roles.
From 1991 until 2022, she hosted Asia’s longest-running drama anthology program ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya,’ which raked in various awards from different award-giving bodies throughout its 31-year-long run.
She then became the head of the network’s Channel 2 Mega Manila management, which oversaw the former flagship VHF TV station of the corporation.
In 2008, she was promoted as ABS-CBN’s President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), before becoming the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ABS-CBN Corporation from 2013 to 2015.
Under her term, she spearheaded the conglomerate’s diversification, such as the launching of services like O Shopping, ABS-CBNmobile, ABS-CBN TV Plus digital TV receiver, KidZania Manila, the ABS-CBN Soundstage project, among others.
After her retirement from the post, she became the Chief Content Officer of ABS-CBN.
Concurrent to her appointment to the company’s board, she is also seen as ‘Tindeng’ in the network’s ongoing primetime drama series ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,’ which is topbilled by Coco Martin.
