‘Magandang Buhay’ resumes production; simulcasts on ALLTV starting May 13

The Kapamilya morning talk show will be back with new episodes soon.

The Kapamilya morning talk show will be back with new episodes soon.

ABS-CBN’s longest-running morning talk show ‘Magandang Buhay’ is not bowing out of our screens anytime soon, this was confirmed by its host Jolina Magdangal-Escueta.

Speaking to Ogie Diaz’s vlog, Magdangal denounced rumors that the talk show will be ending its run after more than 8 years.

Instead, she said that they are preparing new episodes that will be aired later this month.

“Meron kaming ite-tape na mga episodes ng ‘Magandang Buhay’ itong bago mag-end ng April,” Jolina told Ogie.

According to the ‘Philippines’ Pop Culture Icon,’ the broadcast of repeats has been a practice of their show since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the ABS-CBN shutdown in 2020.

But she explained that the most recent decision to temporarily halt production of fresh episodes happened after the end of their telecast on TV5 last March 2024.

“Sanay na kami na merong mga replay, pero ngayon na may mga nangyari sa ibang channel, talagang puro replays muna kami.”

‘Jolens’ then shared her excitement over the upcoming resumption of the show’s production.

NEW PLATFORMS

Aside from new episodes, the show’s loyal viewers will also be able to see ‘Magandang Buhay’ on new TV channels starting Monday, May 13.

‘MB,’ which is currently seen on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z, will also become available on sister cable channel Jeepney TV starting on the said date.

Concurrent to that, ALLTV through its Jeepney TV programming block, will also be airing ‘Magandang Buhay’ in high-definition on free-to-air television.

The ALLTV telecast will mark the show’s return to channel 2 after four years.

ABS-CBN used to broadcast on the said frequency before it was issued a cease-and-desist order by the National Telecommunications Commission on May 5, 2020.

MOMSHIES

‘Magandang Buhay’ was first launched in April 2016 as a replacement program for ‘Kris TV,’ which ended its five-year run the previous month.

Originally hosted by the trio of Jolina Magdangal, Melai Cantiveros, and Karla Estrada.

It was then carried over to cable channel Kapamilya Channel, before landing a free TV spot anew via A2Z in October 2020.

In June 2022, a new triumvirate was formed in the show, as ‘Asia’s Songbird’ Regine Velasquez-Alcasid permanently replaced Estrada.

TV5 TELECAST

As part of the expanded partnership between ABS-CBN and TV5, on February 6, 2023, ‘Magandang Buhay’ finally joined the rest of ABS-CBN’s entertainment offerings shown on the Kapatid network.

Initially, it was screened as a simulcast at 9:00 am, and served as a lead-in to the rest of TV5’s daytime programming.

However, that was soon scrapped, as TV5 opted to create its mid-morning news and information show ‘Gud Morning Kapatid,’ which premiered on June 19, 2023 at 9:30 am.

As a result, ‘Magandang Buhay’ was moved to an earlier time slot of 7:00 am, and shifted to a one-episode-delayed basis on TV5, while retaining the show’s set-up on its other platforms.

As per reports, TV5 had initially planned to transfer ‘MB’ to the 6:00 am slot in March 2024, which led to the program’s eventual pullout from the station.

TV5 and ABS-CBN did not release any statement about the long-running talk show.

The end of ‘Magandang Buhay’ on TV5 also marked the second time that a major program of ABS-CBN bowed out of the network.

On June 30, 2023, the the longest-running Kapamilya noontime variety show ‘It’s Showtime’ bade farewell to TV5 as its blocktime agreement with the station ended on the same day.

The end of ‘IS’ on TV5 was also a result of the transfer of ‘Eat Bulaga’ to the Kapatid network after the fallout between Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon and erstwhile producer TAPE, Inc.

Despite the loss of ‘Magandang Buhay’ and ‘It’s Showtime,’ the tie-up between ABS-CBN and TV5 remains strong, as Kapamilya teleseryes, weekend primetime marquee shows, Sunday musical variety show ‘ASAP Natin ‘To,’ and movie block ‘Sunday Blockbusters’ all remain airing on channel 5.

Another testament to the commitment between the partners is the five-year content deal that they signed in June 2023.
