The drama set a new viewership record for its network.
On Sunday, April 28, hit Korean drama series ‘Queen of Tears’ starring Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won officially ended its successful run after 16 episodes and it did wrap up on a high note.
According to Nielsen Korea, the finale registered 24.9 percent, which trumped the 21.7 percent record set by ‘Crash Landing On You’ during its final episode in 2020.
‘CLOY’ remained as the most-watched program by Korean cable network tvN for nearly four years, before it was surpassed by ‘QOT’ on Sunday.
Both programs, along with other tvN shows ‘Reply 1988’ and ‘Goblin,’ are some of South Korea’s ten highest-rated cable TV dramas of all-time.
Currently, rival station JTBC holds the first two spots of the charts, with ‘The World of the Married’ at number 1, followed by ‘Reborn Rich’ at number 2.
In the Philippines, ‘Queen of Tears,’ its characters, and actors were consistent trending topics on social media platforms like Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) throughout its run.
