Revillame might become a ‘Kapatid’ again soon.
In her recent vlog, showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin confirmed that TV host Willie Revillame is set to make his television comeback via TV5 network.
According to her, someone from the management that she spoke with said that a deal could be possibly finalized after the meeting that was held last Tuesday, March 26.
While was cautious to directly confirm whether Revillame will indeed sign up with the station, Fermin welcomed the possible return of the host to channel 5 after 11 years.
“Panahon na rin para mapanood ulit si Willie Revillame sa mundo ng telebisyon,” the columnist said to the returning TV host.
Beyond Fermin’s account, several reports have also indicated that Willie is looking to sign a co-production agreement with Mediaquest’s Mquest Ventures arm and his own Goodwill Productions for the revival of his game and variety show ‘Wowowin.’
Moreover, if Willie does sign up with TV5, a plausible May comeback for his program is also said to be in the works.
However, the planned back-to-back of his show with TVJ’s ‘Eat Bulaga’ is highly going to be unlikely, as Revillame is reportedly keen to go back to the 5:00 pm slot that he held during his past tenure at GMA-7.
Additionally, he is said to be using one of the studios in TV5 Media Center in Mandaluyong, while ‘EB’ reportedly is heading back to their old home at APT Studios in Cainta, Rizal — should the plans materialize.
The likely return of Willie Revillame to TV5 spells his return to the Kapatid network after more than a decade.
In 2010, he signed up with then-rising Kapatid station for a primetime game show titled ‘Willing Willie.’
Revillame’s move came amidst his dispute with former home network ABS-CBN over a controversial on-air remark on ‘Wowowee’ versus columnist Jobert Sucaldito in May 2010.
Due to yet another controversy, in April 2011, ‘Willing Willie’ went off air, with ‘Wil Time Big Time’ taking over the primetime slot the following month.
That wouldn’t last long, as in January 2013, TV5 and Revillame retooled his program as ‘Wowowillie’ as it moved to the noontime slot.
Due to low ratings, as well as Revillame’s contract expiry, the program ended its run on October 12, 2013, marking the storied three-year-long relationship between the host and the station.
Following that, he went on hiatus, before signing with GMA Network in 2015 to bring ‘Wowowin.’
Initially a blocktimer show and scheduled on a Sunday since its May 2015 launch, the program was eventually placed on the late afternoon slot before flagship newscast ’24 Oras’ in February 2016.
In February 2022, however, Revillame departed GMA after almost seven years as he joined close friend Manny Villar’s fledgling station ALLTV.
He then became a key personality in the station, where he was placed in the channel’s primetime slot at 7:00 pm.
Although, due to weak signal reach and low advertising load, ALLTV decided to end the production of its original programs in March 2023, which included ‘Wowowin.’
In April 2023, the program formally left the station’s programming grid.
Since then, Revillame had been sporadically airing his show through social media platforms like Facebook and YouTube.
