It marked the start of a new era for the Kapamilya network’s primetime shows.
On March 8, 2021, TV5 began airing ABS-CBN Entertainment shows that aired every weekday primetime.
The initial line-up consisted of ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,’ ‘Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin,’ ‘Walang Hanggang Paalam,’ and ‘Pinoy Big Brother: Connect.’
The addition of these primetime shows marked a strengthened partnership between the two media giants, which first joined forces through the broadcast of Sunday musical variety show ‘ASAP Natin ‘To’ and the ‘FPJ: Da King’ movie block in January 2021.
Fast forward to 2024, the TV5 broadcast of ABS-CBN teleseryes enabled the Kapamilya network to regain its foothold on primetime, thanks to the strong performance of Coco Martin’s ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ since it launched in February 2023.
Not to be discounted are top-rated shows ‘Linlang’ and ‘Can’t Buy Me Love,’ which also outperform their rivals in most evenings.
