Exactly 20 years ago, on February 4, 2004, Facebook went online for the first time after the combined efforts of a group of Harvard students, led by Mark Zuckerberg.
What was touted to be a platform to socialize for students, became the zeitgeist of online culture two decades later.
This, as it has become one of the leading social media platforms on the planet, boasting two billion daily active users on its main site alone.
The company, which rebranded from the namesake to Meta in 2021, has also acquired or created some other over the years, notably Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, and recently, Threads.
