TAPE’s noontime program has a new look.
On Saturday, January 6, the noontime variety show produced by Television and Production Exponents, (TAPE) Inc. began with a refreshed look.
Formerly known as ‘Eat Bulaga,’ the program airing on GMA Network has rebranded to ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya’ as of today.
In his opeming spiel, host and former Manila mayor Isko Moreno recognized the situation and delivered the stance of the production following the news on the ‘Eat Bulaga’ case yesterday.
Moreno said: “Mga Kapuso, may balita tayong natanggap kahapon ah. Kaya tayo [TAPE], susunod tayo sa desisyon ng korte.”
“Pero, fresh episode tayo mula ngayon at laging good vibes lang at love love lang,” he added.
The personality, also known as ‘Yorme,’ sent assurance to their audience as well: “Dahil ang mahalaga, hangga’t nandiyan kayo, kami ni Paolo [Contis] at ating mga kasama dito sa Tahanang Pinakamasaya, tuloy-tuloy ang saya at supresa… o unli supresa!”
Despite the retitling, the segments, such as ‘G sa Gedli,’ ‘Games sa Gedli,’ ‘Quick Response, Quick Reward’ remain.
As for the other aspects of the program, the theme song that the show launched last July has been stripped back to its minus one version.
The decision to drop ‘Eat Bulaga’ from the title of the TAPE program on GMA comes at the heels of a Marikina court’s ruling last December 22, 2023, which was released on Friday, January 5.
According to which, the court recognized the group of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon as the owners of the ‘Eat Bulaga’ and ‘EB’ marks.
It also issued an injunction versus TAPE and GMA and stopped them from using the said marks, playing the ‘Eat Bulaga’ theme song and its parts, as well as episodes and segments of the program before May 31, 2023.
The Branch 273 of the Marikina Regional Trial Court has also directed the Intellectual Property Office to cancel the trademark registration filed by TAPE.
Although, in a separate decision last December, the IPO had sided with the petition of TVJ to cancel TAPE’s trademark for ‘Eat Bulaga’ and ‘EB’ that are classified under sections 16, 18, 21, and 25.
The same agency also granted the application filed by Joey de Leon for the said marks under section 41.
Going back to the legal case before the Marikina court, TAPE said that they will be appealing the case.
With this development, the TVJ show, which began simulcasting on both TV5 and CNN Philippines today, has begun to officially use the title ‘Eat Bulaga.’
