BTS members RM, Jimin, V, Jungkook begin military service

All members are now in service.

This week, four members of Korean pop boy group BTS have enlisted in South Korea’s mandatory military service. Leader RM and V entered service on Monday, December 11. Meanwhile, Jimin and Jungkook began on Tuesday, December 12.

With that, all seven members of the group are now in the process of completing the military service, which is required for all able-bodied Korean men and will last for at least 18 months.

Prior to the enlistment of the four members this week, their three fellow Bangtan boys have began rendering their service.

Jin was the first to enter back in December 2022. While J-Hope and Suga followed suit earlier this year.

It was last month when BTS’ parent label BIGHIT Music confirmed that RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook have initiated the process of enlisting in the military.

BTS was formed in 2013 by what was then-known as BIGHIT Entertainment. After years of struggling to find wide recognition, the septet grew in popularity in their home base in South Korea, thanks to early hits like ‘RUN,’ ‘DOPE,’ ‘FIRE,’ ‘Blood, Sweat, Tears,’ ‘Spring Day,’ among others.

In 2018, they successfully penetrated the Western entertainment industry after the release of the ‘Love Yourself’ album series. They have also collaborated with musical acts like Steve Aoki, Nicki Minaj, Halsey, and many more.

Back in June, the mega-group celebrated their 10th debut anniversary. HYBE Chairman Bang Si Hyuk had also stated in the past that the members might regroup after the completion of their mandatory military service in 2025.
