BLACKPINK members renew contract with YG Entertainment

The BLACKPINK members are still with the agency.

On December 5, South Korean management company YG Entertainment confirmed that members of its prime girl group BLACKPINK have renewed their contracts with the company.

According to YG, they have signed an exclusive contract with Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé for their group promotions and other activities.

However, they also clarified that they are still in negotiation with the members for their individual careers.

The announcement also marks the end of months-long speculations regarding the future of the four-member group.

This, as their contract with YG ended in August, in time for their seventh anniversary of their debut.

BLACKPINK debuted on August 8, 2016 with tracks ‘BOOMBAYAH’ and ‘WHISTLE,’ to much fanfare.

They went on to release hits after hits, like ‘As If It’s Your Last,’ ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU,’ ‘Kill This Love,’ and ‘Lovesick Girls’.

Their latest comeback as a quartet was in 2022 when they returned for their ‘BORN PINK’ album, which included songs like ‘Shut Down’ and ‘Pink Venom’.

Aside from their group activities, each of the members have also made solo musical releases through the years. Starting with Jennie in 2018, Rosé in 2020, followed by Lisa in 2021, then Jisoo last March 2023.
