The ABS-CBN Ball is making a comeback this year
The much-awaited gathering of showbiz’s brightest stars is happening.
In a teaser on Tuesday, ABS-CBN announced that it will be staging the ABS-CBN Ball this year. In the video, a shiny logo of the ball’s logo appears on screen with the year 2023 right at the bottom. Apart from that, a text that reads “the new chapter” is added on the next slide.
ABS-CBN Ball, which first took place in 2018, was the replacement of sorts for the annual Star Magic Ball, which itself began in 2007. As the ABS-CBN Ball, it became a much more open event to Kapamilya stars handled by other artist management companies, as well as other showbiz personalities. The last time the ball was held was in 2019, before taking a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2022, there was supposed to be an ABS-CBN Ball, set to be held on October 2, 2022. However, likely due to scheduling conflicts of many artists, it had to be canceled.
With its return, ABS-CBN Ball is expected to invite Kapamilya stars, executives, and other personalities in local showbizlandia. The interesting sight of members from GMA and TV5 networks being in the said event, is also a huge possibility.
The date for the 2023 Ball has yet to be announced by ABS-CBN.

Sejeong debuted in 2016 through the Mnet survival show ‘Produce 101,’ where she was ranked second and became part of the project group I.O.I. Apart from that, she also was a member of gugudan until the group’s disbandment in 2020.
As an actress, Sejeong’s notable works are ‘School 2017,’ ‘Business Proposal,’ and ‘The Uncanny Counter,’ which is also currently airing its second season.
SM Entertainment new K-pop boy group RIIZE
It will be the agency’s first new boy group in seven years.
On Tuesday, August 1, Korean talent management agency and recording label SM Entertainment announced the official lineup for its new boy group named RIIZE. According to SM, RIIZE will be composed of seven (7) members, namely Shotaro, Eunseok, Sungchan, Wonbin, Seunghan, So Hee, and Anton.
Shotaro and Sungchan were former members of SM’s other boy group, Neo Culture Technology (NCT). They both joined the group in 2020, but were not assigned to any permanent NCT unit during that span. They then departed the group in May as part of the reshuffling, which includes them being part of RIIZE. Meanwhile, Eunseok and Sunghan were both announced as then-soon-to-be idols through SMROOKIES.
The official debut date for RIIZE has not been set yet.
RIIZE will become SM’s first group in what is now considered to be the “fifth generation of K-pop.” It will also be the company’s first since aespa in 2020, and first boy group since the 2016 debut of NCT.
