The Welsh TV news anchor has been named as the controversial presenter.
‘BBC News at Ten’ anchor Huw Edwards has been named by his wife Vicky Flind as the suspended BBC presenter. According to Flind, Edwards has been suffering from serious mental health issues and has been receiving in-patient hospital care after a serious episode.
Furthermore, it was said that Huw Edwards will respond to allegations once he is “well enough to do so.” In the same statement, the couple also jointly expressed their apologies to “colleagues that have been impacted by the media speculation.”
In light of the recent reporting regarding the ‘BBC Presenter’ I am making this statement on behalf of my husband Huw Edwards, after what have been five extremely difficult days for our family.

Huw is suffering from serious mental health issues. As is well documented, he has been treated for severe depression in recent years.
The events of the last few days have greatly worsened matters, he has suffered another serious episode and is now receiving in-patient hospital care where he’ll stay for the foreseeable future.
Once well enough to do so, he intends to respond to the stories that have been published.
To be clear Huw was first told that there were allegations being made against him last Thursday.
In the circumstances and given Huw’s condition I would like to ask that the privacy of my family and everyone else caught up in these upsetting events is respected.
I know that Huw is deeply sorry that so many colleagues have been impacted by the recent media speculation. We hope this statement will bring that to an end.

The controversy began with a complaint made before the BBC over one of their presenters last May. Last week, UK newspaper The Sun published a story containing new allegations, which includes the broadcaster paid a certain person for sexually explicit photos, beginning when they were 17. Other young people have come forward since and alleged inappropriate contact.
The same day that the BBC was informed over the allegations, the then-unnamed presenter did not appear on their program as per usual. On Sunday, July 9, BBC has confirmed that it has placed the male anchor under suspension.
A few minutes prior to the statement, the Metropolitan Police in London have said that they did not find any information that suggest or indicate that a criminal offense was made in this issue.
Edwards has been the presenter of the BBC’s flagship news bulletin at 10:00 pm for over 20 years. He had also been at the forefront of notable coverages, such as the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022. According to BBC News, Edwards is also one of the corporation’s highest-paid presenter, making at most £439,999 (or more than Ph₱ 31 million) in the period of 2022-23 alone.
