MTRCB allows screening of ‘Barbie’ in PH

The ‘Barbie’ film will be seen in PH, after all.

The controversial ‘Barbie’ film will hit Philippine theaters this July.

This, as the country’s Movie and Television Review and Classification Board or the MTRCB gave its thumbs-up approval for it to be showcased in the Philippines.

According to them, they have found “no… outright depiction of the nine-dash line.”

The board also adds that they have sought the opinion of experts on the matter regarding the West Philippine Sea to arrive at their decision to allow the film to screen.

Philippine legislator Senator Francis Tolentino expressed his disappointment over the board’s decision.

This development comes more than a week after Vietnam banned the movie for allegedly displaying a map showing the nine-dash-line.
