The series is the first collaboration drama between media giant GMA and ABS-CBN, together with top Asian streaming platform Viu.
In a rare occurrence on Philippine TV, the giant media institutions GMA and ABS-CBN join forces with Viu to deliver a new series. In an announcement today, January 23, 2023, the three partners have announced the series titled ‘Unbreak My Heart‘, which will be produced by ABS-CBN Entertainment and Dreamscape Entertainment for GMA and Viu.
It will be topbilled by Asian Academy Creative Awards 2022 Best Actress and Kapamilya Jodi Sta. Maria, and her former love team on ‘Be Careful With My Heart’ and now Kapuso actor Richard Yap.
Apart from them, Kapamilya actor and PBB alum Joshua Garcia, which also stars as Brian in ‘Darna: The TV Series’, will be paired with Alena of ‘Encantadia 2016’, Gabbi Garcia. Yes, Garcia-Garcia it is.
Joining them will be a set of Kapuso and Kapamilya stars, led by Laurice Guillen, who returns to acting after a few years, Eula Valdes, Nikki Valdez, Bianca de Vera, Will Ashley, and Maey Bautista. The series is to be directed by Manny Palo and Dolly Dulu.
The casts of ‘Unbreak My Heart‘ is said to be flying to Switzerland to shoot scenes there.
‘Unbreak My Heart’ signifies the further strengthening of ties between the Kapamilya and Kapuso networks. Last year, in April, both parties entered into a programming agreement, which saw ABS-CBN Films / Star Cinema movies airing on GMA and its sister channels.
Apart from that, this series also makes Viu’s presence in the country much bigger. Also last year, the OTT (over-the-top) platform also joined forces with ABS-CBN and Dreamscape to deliver the local adaptation of BBC’s ‘Doctor Foster’, ‘The Broken Marriage Vow‘, which also starred Jodi Sta. Maria. Later on, that furthered with the Philippine adaptation of hit South Korean TV series ‘Flower of Evil‘, still under the same unit, and topbilled by Piolo Pascual and Lovi Poe.
Over at the other side, Viu had also recently signed a deal with GMA, which will see the streaming platform air two of the Kapuso network’s upcoming series. The first one being Public Affairs drama series ‘The Write One‘ with Ruru Madrid and Bianca Umali, with ‘Love Before Sunrise‘ of Bea Alonzo and Dennis Trillo airing thereafter.
Back to ‘Unbreak My Heart‘, it is set to air this year on GMA and Viu.
