ANC’s After The Fact concludes run

The fact is tonight, After The Fact aired its last episode.

On March 30, 2022, through his personal social media account, ANC anchor and After The Fact host Christian Esguerra announced the end of his weeknight show after more than 10 months on the air.

According to Esguerra, the demise of the program is “no thanks to the prevailing political climate,” to which he did not add any further. He also thanked the viewers of the show, and shared his plan moving forward. He says that he “will focus on his INDEPENDENT #FactsFirst podcast and YouTube interviews — and more.”

Towards the end of the last episode this evening, Esguerra also bade farewell to ANC, his home channel for the past six years. He also shared the following words to close the broadcast.

“In this era of fake news, let the facts shine the light for you. Let the journalists help you, not the politicians, not the political operators. Because disinformation brings only death and decay to democracy.”

ABS-CBN News and ANC have yet to release any statement regarding this matter. There is also no update yet as to what program will replace AFF on ANC’s primetime block, but it is presumed that the channel’s Documentary Hour strip will return to the 8:00 pm slot.

Launched in late May 2021, After the Fact served as the primetime equivalent of Headstart with Karen Davila. Offering thought-provoking conversations and grilling the persons of the hour with the right questions, ATF truly was a platform to gather insights and ultimately, the facts.

Prior to After The Fact, Esguerra was part of the news channel’s past morning shows; Mornings@ANC, Early Edition, and eventually Matters of Fact — which was formerly a segment of Early Edition before that program was abruptly ended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
