‘Buhay Komedya Hahaha’: BuKo channel officially launched

No pandemic would stop Filipinos from getting a dose of laughter.

On August 2, 2021, the country welcomed the newest chanmel in town. BuKo, a shorthand for ‘Buhay Komedya’, was introduced on Cignal, Satlite, and Cignal Play. From the name itself, one would immediately understand what the channel is about: comedy. But for BuKo, they are aiming to become the home of Philippines’ beloved comedy classics and new shows that will complement those.

That mission is reflected on the schedule as BuKo broadcasts reruns of comedies like H3O: Hahaha Over (originally from QTV 11, with Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, and Gladys Guevarra), TV5’s Pidol’s Wonderland (with Dolphy), Lokomoko, and Wow Mali, and GMA’s Bubble Gang. The original Iskul Bukol (with Tito, Vic, and Joey) is also part of the block.

The pack will be complemented by new offerings Kusina ni Mamang (hosted by Pokwang) and #MaineGoals (with Maine Mendoza).

Recent Archangel Media gameshows for Cignal and TV5, Fill in the Bank (with Jose Manalo and Pokwang) and Bawal na Gameshow (with Paolo Ballesteros and Wally Bayola), will also be reaired on BuKo. Apart from that, APT’s 2004 drama series Leya also found a new home in BuKo.

In 2019, BuKo was first announced after APT Entertainment and Cignal TV entered in a 5-year-contract to develop the channel. During the contract signing event, it was even announced that old clips from Eat Bulaga, specifically Little Miss Philippines, will all be part of the programming combo. It remains to be seen whether those will be aired on BuKo anytime soon.

BuKo is airing 24/7 on Cignal and Satlite channel 2. It’s on the Cignal Play platform, where it will be free for all CPlay users until September 30, 2021.
