Bea Alonzo signs with GMA Network

The former Kapamilya A-lister is now a Kapuso.

On June 29, GMA first released a teaser online about an “award-winning” artist joining their stable of stars.

While the rumor has been out for months now, netizens were still not able to figure out the actual person that the post is referring to. Thus, several Twitter users took the opportunity to poke fun at the teaser and even Meryl Streep was mentioned in the list of possible transferees.

However, when GMA partially unveiled the face of the new Kapuso actress that they’re talking about, many have already confirmed that it’s no other than Bea Alonzo.

Earlier this morning, it was already revealed that Alonzo is indeed signing with GMA this afternoon. As of press time, Bea had already finished her contract signing event and she is set to have a Facebook livestream at around 4 this afternoon.

Prior to joining GMA, Alonzo was set to star in two projects for ABS-CBN. The first one was the teleserye Kahit Minsan Lang with Christian Bables, Jameson Blake, Rafael Rosell, and Richard Gutierrez. The series, which was introduced in the 2020 omnibus plug of the Kapamilya network, has since been shelved (either temporarily or permanently). The male actors have also been reassigned elsewhere, most notably of which is Gutierrez’s portrayal of the character Lito Balmoria in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.

Alonzo was also slated to reunite with her perennial on-screen partner John Lloyd Cruz for the Star Cinema film No Goodbyes — which was revealed in the Together as One sa 2021 plug. The status of the project is now unknown, especially with Cruz also appearing on GMA via a TV special last month.

Under GMA, Bea is set to have a movie with Alden Richards titled Pure Soul, a remake of a South Korean film A Moment to Remember and a Japanese TV series of the same name. It will be co-produced by APT Entertainment, Viva Films, and GMA Pictures.
