And so it happened once again.
Beginning Monday, February 22, TV5 will begin implementing a slew of programming changes, mainly on their primetime block. But first, let’s go to the daytime block.
Last Thursday, Ted Failon announced on his radio program that TV5 will no longer air the hookup of Ted Failon at DJ Chacha sa Radyo5 starting Monday. The program, which premiered last October, was the first (albeit, de-facto) morning show of TV5 in nearly three years. Replacing the 6 to 7:30 slots would be the reextension of the TV5 Kids block led by the returning Batibot reruns.
Gone are the also the weekday primetime gameshows between 7 and 9pm as both Fill in the Bank and Bawal na Gameshow move to pre-primetime. Both programs will also return to an alternating day setup in the interim. The former, which is hosted by Jose Manalo and Pokwang will air every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 5:00pm. Meanwhile, the latter show that is hosted by Paolo Ballesteros and Wally Bayola will be airing every Tuesday and Thursday still at 5:00pm.

Both gameshows are now set to go up against a more aptly competitor that is GMA’s Wowowin.
Right after the gameshow belt, News5’s flagship primetime newscast Frontline Pilipinas will be extended to 75 minutes and will now air from 6:00pm to 7:15pm. The program, which is anchored by Cheryl Cosim and Raffy Tulfo, recently welcomed Gretchen Ho as its sports segment anchor.
The vacated 7 o’clock hour will officially have a new tenant as ‘Paano Ang Pangako?‘ moves to 7:15pm. The drama will also mark the return of Kapatid teleseryes on the timeslot after 5 years.
After PAP, provisional programming in the form of a nightly movie block will be aired from 8 to 10pm. As part of the initial slate of movies to be screened, The IdeaFirst Company’s productions Ang Babaeng Allergic sa WiFi starring Sue Ramirez will air on Tuesday (Feb. 23) and Martin del Rosario-starrer Born Beautiful the following evening.
With regards to the foreign dramas airing after the (presumably) dissolved Primetime Todo drama block, lower-third promotions in the past few days have begun displaying The Beauty Inside airing at 10:00pm. However, no updates yet on what programs would air right after that.
As for the decision to revamp the entire weekday primetime grid, no further information has been shared by the network. But netizens have begun to speculate that a wider partnership with ABS-CBN Entertainment on weeknights could be in the offing, given that four hours worth of Kapamilya shows are already airing on Sunday afternoons. TV5 is yet to make a statement with regards to these changes.
These changes at TV5 will take into effect on Monday, February 22, 2021.
