Failon-Chacha, Frontline Pilipinas headline News5’s October revamp

As part of TV5’s second wave of programming revamp that began last July, new shows from News5 are set to take centerstage.

Beginning October 5, 2020, the Kapatid news department will debut an array of new shows on Radyo5, One PH, and the flagship station, TV5.

Over at Radyo5-One PH, a new noontime program titled Feelings with Stanley Chi and Dr. Rica Cruz will be on air every weekday at 12:30pm. The show aims to provide love solutions and advice to its listeners. While there are no confirmation yet, it seems that Relasyon will be bidding farewell after 10 years on air.

The primetime edition of One PH’s flagship newscast One Balita Pilipinas will also have a major overhaul as Jay Taruc will begin anchoring the newscast. He will take over the reins from the tandem of Cheryl Cosim and Ed Lingao. The show is also expected to move to a new timeslot at 5:30pm.

Cosim and Lingao, however, will hold on to their current 6:30pm slot. This time, Lourd de Veyra, Raffy Tulfo, and News5 chief Luchi Cruz-Valdes will join them in the permanent replacement program of Aksyon, Frontline Pilipinas. This new lineup is seen as the strongest lineup of any flagship primetime newscast of the station in recent years.

But the most prominent show of that day will be the pilot episode of Ted Failon and DJ Chacha’s new morning show. Titled as Ted Failon-DJ Chacha sa Radyo5, the four hour show that will replace Early All Ready and BolJak on the 6 to 10am block. The show will be simulcasted over at 92.3 News FM, One PH, and TV5 (for the first leg at 6-7:30am). According to Failon during his contract signing, viewers and listeners will experience a “paradigm shift” because of the show’s format. (in which other details are still kept under wraps as of press time). Nevertheless, it’s still exciting to see and hear the both Ted and Chacha bring their respective expertise on AM and FM on the AM-formatted News FM.

These upcoming programs and more will kick off on October 5 starting at 6:00am on Radyo5, One PH, and TV5.
