Sporting leagues suspend game amidst COVID-19 outbreak in PH
The committees of UAAP, NCAA, and the PBA have suspended games in their respective leagues.UAAP games will remain on hold until March 14.
UAAP has already announced the premature end to the current season due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Meanwhile, NCAA is now on the process of considering the termination of its 95th season.
PBA games, including the 45th Philippine Cup, D-League, and the inaugural 3×3 tournament, will be postponed indefinitely.
COVID cases hike to 49 in the Philippines; country records second fatality
The Department of Health has confirmed 16 new COVID-19 positive patients, the highest increase since January 31, 2020. Now, the country’s COVID-19 chart has jumped to 49 confirmed cases and 2 deaths.
The second death, the first since early February, is patient PH35, a 67-year-old Filipina with no travel history outside of the Philippines. She was also admitted at the Manila Doctors Hospital in the City of Manila. Also, she was one of the cases confirmed at 5:30pm today. News of her death later circulated at around 10pm. PH35 is also the first local to die due to the disease.
