It has gained traction on social media.
During a recent event for her latest movie, actress Kylie Padilla was asked about the rumors of her father, Senator Robin Padilla, being the running mate of incumbent Vice President Sara Duterte—who had already announced her decision to run for the Presidency—in 2028.
The action star-turned-politician has not yet categorically admitted any plans to run, but said that his partymate, former President Rodrigo Duterte, will be the only person able to convince him.
The said interview with News5, Kylie jokingly responded, “Aalis na ako ng Pilipinas. I have no reaction but aalis na ako ng Pilipinas. Aalis na po ako ng Pilipinas. Ayon lang po ang comment.”
But on a much serious note, she stated, “Hindi, ano na lang. I trust in my father’s judgment. Ayon lang.”
The said clip had gone viral online, with many netizens weighing in on the “cheeky” remark of the Kapuso star.
Hence, the actress decided to issue a clarification through her Instagram account on late Tuesday evening (February 24).
“I only meant that aalis po ako ng Pilipinas kasi gusto ko ng tahimik na buhay. It was not a comment to insult my father because I trust in his judgement and all the good he is doing for this country.“
She continued, “But I think it is also my right to know what kind of life I want to live. And that is a quiet peaceful life. Yun Ing po. xoхо.”
At present, Senator Padilla has not yet commented regarding the statements made by her daughter.
